John Melendez, also known as "Stuttering John," is an American entertainer. He rose to prominence as a staff member on The Howard Stern Show from 1988 to 2004. During his time with Stern, Melendez gained recognition for his "gonzo-ambush" interview style, where he would ask celebrities often impertinent questions at events and press conferences.
After 14 years with The Howard Stern Show, Melendez transitioned to NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, where he worked for 10 years as the nightly announcer, a staff writer, and appeared in comedy sketches and correspondent pieces.
Beyond his radio and television work, Melendez has also appeared in various films and TV shows. His film credits include Howard Stern's Private Parts (1997), Meet Wally Sparks (1997), Dude, Where's My Car? (2000), Osmosis Jones (2001), and Airheads (1994). On television, he has had guest-starring roles on Wings (1990) and Baywatch Nights (1995), and provided the voice of "Bob" in the animated series Tripping the Rift (2004). In 2008, he wrote, produced, and starred in his own feature film, One, Two, Many. Melendez has also been a contestant on reality shows like I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! (2003) and Celebrity Fear Factor (2006).
